Robert Earl Keen to play Boston’s Royale

Robert Earl Keen will hit Massachusetts later this month. The singer-songwriter and longtime americana/country favorite will perform at Boston’s Royale on Sunday, January 22. Tickets for the show are on sale through Ticketmaster for $25. The Deep Dark Woods will open the show.

Keen will be touring in support of his brand new release, Ready For Confetti. The Texan wrote songs for his 16th studio effort while on the road and recorded it with his regular touring band. Keen turned to Lloyd Maines (Dixie Chicks, Flatlanders), who he worked with on 2009’s The Rose Hotel, to produce the album.

“He brings patience,” said Keen of Maines in a recent interview with PopMatters. “And he has more communication ability than anything I’ve ever experienced in the studio. He’s also really good with ideas. He generally throws the questions about ‘what should we do here’ out to me, or out to the band, and people throw in their two cents worth. However, if anybody just sorta runs out of ideas, he’s right there with an idea.”
