Rancid map summer tour with the Transplants

Taking a break from the studio, Rancid will will spend the summer on the road with a nationwide tour. The punk rock veterans will make their way to Massachusetts for a special two-night stand at Boston’s House of Blues on Sunday, June 16 and Monday, June 17. Frontman Tim Armstrong will pull double duty by also performing with his other band the Transplants, who will will join Rancid for the summer trek. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through Live Nation for $26.25 and $35.

Earlier this year, Rancid confirmed they had started working on their eighth studio effort by posting a photo on Facebook, though no other details have been revealed. Their last offering of all new material was 2009’s Let the Dominoes Fall, which was their first in nearly six years, following 2003’s Indestructible. It also marked their first release with drummer Branden Steineckert, who joined the band in 2006 after the departure of founding drummer Brett Reed.

The Transplants, which also features Travis Barker (of Blink 182 fame), will release In A Warzone on June 25. The band’s third studio effort and follow-up to 2005’s Haunted Cities features lead single “Come Around”, which can be downloaded for free on the band’s website.

Crown of Thornz will kick off the Boston show on June 16, while hometown favorites The Unseen will perform on June 17.
