Radiohead to release new album by this Saturday

Who says the newspaper industry is dying? Beloved British rockers Radiohead surprised fans yesterday by announcing that they will release what they’re calling the “world’s first Newspaper Album” as early as this Saturday, February 19.

Radiohead gave little explanation on what exactly a “Newspaper Album” is but were more clear on the specifics of the album’s release. The band’s eighth album, titled The King of Limbs,  was produced by longtime collaborator Nigel Godric. The album will first be available digitally through the band’s official website and later as a physical release at major retailers on  March 28.

The physical release will feature a bevy of extras as part of the album packaging including “two clear 10″ vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve” and over 600 tiny pieces of artwork. The full listing of the album packaging, as well as the pre-sale for the record can be found at thekingoflimbs.com.

This will be Radiohead’s first release since 2007’s In Rainbows, an album which drew great attention with its “pay what you want” pricing scheme.
