With a new album in the works, Phish have announced plans to return to the road this summer. The pride of Vermont will kick off the summer trek in Massachusetts with a performance at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield on Tuesday, July 1. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation for $45 and $60.

The veteran jam band is currently working on a new album, their first since 2009’s Joy. Last fall, Phish delivered a surprising set of twelve brand new songs during the second set of their Halloween concert instead of their traditional covers set. After the show, they made their way to Nashville to record the new album tentatively titled Wingsuit. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, bassist Mike Gordon discussed the album.

“What we did on Halloween was not exactly… it was a lot of what the album is, but not exactly the same of what it’s going to be,” he said. “It might be a slightly different song selection and a slightly different title. It’s not all figured out, but since that week in Nashville, I’ve been kind of out of the loop, although I am going back for something.”

Joy marked Phish’s return after a four-year break and also reunited them with producer Steve Lillywhite, who last worked with the band on 1996’s Billy Breathes.

Last year, Phish celebrated their 30th anniversary.
