Pearl Jam reveal plans for new album, tour
Pearl Jam have revealed plans for an arena tour this fall in support of their highly anticipated new album, Lightning Bolt. The veteran rockers will return to Massachusetts for a performance at the DCU Center in Worcester on Tuesday, October 15. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $79.
Lightning Bolt, Pearl Jam’s tenth studio album and follow-up to 2009’s Backspacer will be released on October 15 through their own label, Monkeywrench Records. Produced by the band’s longtime producer Brendan O’Brien, it features lead single “Mind Your Manners” (streaming below).
Last week, Pearl Jam previewed a trio of new songs from Lightning Bolt (“Mind Your Manners”, “Lightning Bolt” and “Future Days”) at their sold-out concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The show, which served as homecoming for frontman Eddie Vedder, was halted after roughly 40 minutes and delayed for almost three hours due to a severe lightning and rain storm. The band returned shortly before midnight and played a set of hits, fan favorites and rarities till the extended curfew of 2 a.m. for the faithful crowd of 40,000 plus.
