Patty Griffin has announced plans for a summer tour in support of her forthcoming album, American Kid. The veteran singer-songwriter and New England native will return to Boston for a performance at the House of Blues on Friday, June 7. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $30 to $45, are now on sale through Live Nation.

American Kid, Griffin’s seventh studio effort, is scheduled to hit stores on May 7. Co-produced by Griffin and Craig Ross, is marks her first album of mainly new material since the acclaimed Children Running Through in 2007. In between, she made the Grammy Award-winning Downtown Church (2010), which was comprised of classic gospel songs along with three originals. She also became a member of Robert Plant’s Band of Joy, which released a self-titled album in 2010.

Much of American Kid, according to Griffin, was written to honor her father. Fans can get a taste of the new material with lead single “Ohio”, which features special guest harmonies from Plant and is streaming below.
