NEEDTOBREATHE are back on the road for a spring tour in support of their latest album, The Reckoning. The South Carolina-based rockers will make their way to Massachusetts next month and play Boston’s House of Blues on Tuesday, April 17. Tickets for the show, which will also feature singer-songwriter Ben Rector, are now on sale through Live Nation for $23 and $35.

The Reckoning, NEEDTOBREATHE’s fourth studio album and first since 2009’s The Outsiders, was released last September through Atlantic Records. It debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 and topped both Billboard’s Rock Albums and Christian Albums charts. For more on The Reckoning, check out the video streaming below.

For members Bear and Bo Rinehart, the sons of a South Carolina pastor, staying true to their Christian roots was a priority while writing the record. “We considered every note, every sound, and every lyric that went on this album,” explained Bo Rinehart in a press release. “Everything was put through the ‘Do we really believe this or not,’ filter. We never settled. We were looking for a spark. Sometimes in the studio you’ve got to keep searching until something happens that feels magical. We were waiting for that moment to strike on each song before we called this album finished.”

The Rineharts, along with Seth Bolt and Joe Stillwell, also penned The Reckoning with the specific mindset of performing its songs live. “The worst thing that could happen is you get done playing and people don’t think about you again,” added Bear Rinehart. “We’ll do whatever it takes to force people to make a decision about our band, whether they love us or not. It makes for more passionate fans.”

The upcoming tour marks the band’s first headlining trek since spending much of 2011 opening for country-pop superstar Taylor Swift.
