Jim James has revealed plans for a full US tour in support of his forthcoming debut solo album, Regions Of Light And Sound Of God. The My Morning Jacket frontman will hit Boston for a show at Royale on Friday, April 26. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster for $26.

Regions Of Light And Sound Of God is scheduled to hit stores on February 5 via ATO Records. Fans can get a taste of the album on NPR, where it is currently streaming in its entirety.

Until now, James had never felt the call to create an album on his own. “I’m very lucky to play in a band with guys that I love, who are great at what they do,” he explained in press release, “so on MMJ records, I don’t have a need to play bass or keys or what have you. But as a person and as a musician, I love to play every instrument under the sun, and I wanted to make a record where I played all the instruments and produced/engineered it myself.”

“The album knew what it wanted to be,” declared James. “The songs would tell me what they wanted to be, and I just had to search around and find those sounds to bring them into this world.”

Next week, James will perform tracks off Regions Of Light And Sound Of God with The Roots on NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”. He will appear as the show’s musical guest on February 4, and then on the following night, will sit in as a guest member of The Legendary Roots Crew.
