My Morning Jacket to play New Year’s Eve in Boston

, Staff

After a memorable headlining set at this year’s Newport Folk Festival, My Morning Jacket have revealed special plans for a return visit to New England. The veteran rockers will usher in 2013 with a New Year’s Eve performance at Boston’s Agganis Arena. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at noon through Live Nation for $50.50. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band will open the show.

My Morning Jacket continue to tour in support of their latest album, Circuital. Released in May 2011, the band’s sixth studio effort debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200. The Grammy-nominated album was co-produced by frontman Jim James and Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, R.E.M.). The video for “Outta My System”, the album’s latest single, is streaming below.

The New Year’s Eve concert in Boston will be preceded by a three-night stand at the historic Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York. The shows will serve as a continuation of their “Spontaneous Curation Series”, in which no songs will be repeated at each of the performances.
