Motley Crue announce ‘The Final Tour’

After more than three decades together, Motley Crue have announced pans to retire following one last tour. The glam rockers will embark on “The Final Tour” and make their way to Massachusetts for a performance at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield on Sunday, August 24. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $17.50 to $117.50, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. Joining them will be special guest Alice Cooper.

To emphasize that the tour will actually live up to its name, each of the members of Motley Crue signed a “Cessation Of Touring Agreement” at press conference announcing the tour. The agreement assures that the band will no longer tour together after the upcoming 2-year touring cycle is complete. While the band members are still on good terms, they said they have made a peaceful decision to move on to other endeavors and wanted to confirm it with a binding agreement.

“Everything must come to an end!,” said drummer Tommy Lee in a press release. “We always had a vision of going out with a big fucking bang and not playing county fairs and clubs with 1 or 2 original band members! Our job here is done!”

Frontman Vince Neil added, “I’ll miss playing with the guys but I won’t quit playing rock and roll! I feel there are a lot of great opportunities and exciting projects after Motley.”

Fans can expect Motley Crue to deliver a set packed with greatest hits and fan favorites, along with a whole new stage production.

“When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope and that’s part of Motley Crue’s legacy,” said bassist Nikki Sixx in a press release. “As far as letting on to what we’re doing, that would be like finding out what you’re getting for Christmas before you open the presents. We think in an age of too much information, we’d like to keep some surprises close to our chest until we launch the Final Tour.”

The tour will hit 72 markets this year with plans to expand internationally through 2015. Following the show in Massachusetts, Motely Crue will return to New England in the fall for a concert in Connecticut. The band will perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville on Sunday, October 26. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Along with the tour, the band has announced a pair of other projects. Director Jeff Tremaine (Bad Grandpa) has signed on for the film-adaption of the band’s memoir, The Dirt. The film is expected to hit theaters in 2015. The band has also teamed up with country label Big Machine Records for the release of a country music tribute album to the band. Among the artists already confirmed to be featured on the tribute album are Florida Georgia Line and Rascal Flatts. The album is scheduled to be released this summer.
