Mix 104.1 has announced plans for their annual MixFest concert, which will return to the Hatch Shell in Boston on Saturday, September 14. Of Monsters and Men will headline the festival alongside Backstreet Boys and Gavin DeGraw. The show, which will be held rain or shine, is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Of Monsters and Men, who performed at the inaugural Boston Calling Music Festival in May, continue to tour in support of their debut album My Head Is an Animal. Released in September of 2011, the album has been powered by hit singles “Little Talks” and “Mountain Sound”.

After a performance at the Bank of America Pavilion earlier this month, Backstreet Boys will return to the Hub to promote their brand new release In A World Like This. It marks their first album with all five original members (Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson) since 2005 and features lead single “In a World Like This”.

DeGraw, who performed at last year’s MixFest, is gearing up for the release of his fifth studio album. No release date or name has been announced for the follow-up to 2011’s Sweeter. Fans can get a taste of the new material with lead single “Best I Ever Had”.

Fans are encouraged to take public transportation to the event (available via the Charles/MGH Red Line and Science Park Green Line MBTA stops). Backpacks, large bags, coolers and blankets will not be allowed, though small bags and beach towels will be allowed but subject to a discretionary search. Also, only sealed plastic water bottles will be allowed into the venue.

Last year’s MixFest concert featured Train, Andy Grammer and DeGraw and marked the return to the Hatch Shell as a free event.
