Michael Franti & Spearhead to play the House of Blues

Michael Franti & Spearhead will return to the road later this year for a summer tour. The band will bring their “Once A Day” tour to Boston for a night at the House of Blues on Saturday, June 6. Tickets for the show, which will also feature openers The Soul Rebels, will go on sale Saturday at noon through Live Nation for $35 and $45.

In December, Michael Franti & Spearhead released a brand new song called “Same As It Ever Was (Start Today)” (video is streaming below). “The song is a response to the crisis taking place in America today over the lack of grand jury indictments in the Eric Garner and Michael Brown killings,” said Franti. “We all have a stake and a responsibility in bringing about these changes. We might not ever live in a society that is just, unbiased, kind and peaceful all the time, but I know for sure we can all do way better than what we are doing right now. So let’s not give up trying. That is the challenge today and we’ve all been called to play a role in, let’s start today.”

Michael Franti & Spearhead’s last offering of all new material was 2013’s All People.
