On Sunday, January 29, the bands will rock the Tsongas Center in Lowell. Prior to the Massachusetts show, Megadeth and Motorhead will perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, January 27. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $35. Rising Danish rockers Volbeat and Italian metal band Lacuna Coil will open both shows.

Gigantour is a chance to, as Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine explained in a press release, tour with like-minded artists “that play heavy music in a high-energy environment” with a fan-friendly ticket price. He founded the tour in 2005 and has since shared the stage with likes of  Anthrax, Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Opeth, Static-X and more.

Megadeth will be touring in support of their brand new album, TH1RT3EN. Released on Tuesday, the band’s thirteenth studio effort follows 2009’s Endgame. It features lead single “Public Enemy No. 1”. The album mark’s the return of bassist and founding member Dave Ellefson, who last recorded with the band on 2001’s The World Needs a Hero.

Motorhead continues to tour in support of their latest album, The World Is Yours. Released in December of 2010, the heavy metal veteran’s 20th studio effort follows 2008’s Motorizer.

“Megadeth are one of the greatest bands to tread a stage anywhere and me and Dave have been promising each other we’d tour together ever since we met!,” exclaimed Motorhead frontman Lemmy in a press release.
