Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has announced plans for a special promotional tour. As part of his “Record Store” tour, the indie rock hero will meet and greet fans and sign copies of the the band first-ever EP, The Flaming Lips 1st EP. He’ll meet fans in Boston at the Newbury Comics on Newbury Street at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 9.

At the event, Coyne will be selling an extremely limited edition version of the 12″ EP which is housed with a hand-crafted, custom-made solid chocolate skull (anatomically correct and life-sized, of course). Each skull contains a special Gold Coin that is redeemable as admission to any headline show by the Flaming Lips.

The Flaming Lips 1st EP will be available as a limited edition 12-inch on green vinyl and signed by Coyne. The last time this recording was available on vinyl was in 1986. It was originally recorded in two sessions at Benson Sound in 1984 and released on the group’s homemade label Lovely Sorts of Death Records. This edition has been remastered by bassist Michael Ivins and given a re-imagined cover by freak artist Charlie Immer.

In October, The Flaming Lips released a new six-song EP called Peace Sword. The title track was written exclusively for the film “Ender’s Game”, while the remaining five tracks were all inspired by the book upon which the film is based as well as the motion picture itself. The band released their last full-length studio album The Terror in April of 2013.
