Mayer Hawthorne & The Heavy to play Boston

, Staff Writer

Singer-songwriter Mayer Hawthorne and English indie band The Heavy will continue their Mazda-sponsored tour with a stop at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. Tickets for the 18 + show, which is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19, are $24 and available now through Ticketmaster.

Los Angeles native Hawthorne, who tours with his backing band The County, is supporting his debut album, A Strange Arrangement, which hit stores in September 2009. Featuring elements of Motown ballads and drum-centric instrumentals, its tracks have been featured on productions including Ugly Betty and the Kanye West/Spike Jonze film We Were Once A Fairytale. Mayer Hawthorne often performs hip hop under the stage name Haircut.

The Heavy’s latest release came in the form of The House That Built Dirt, their second album since their 2007 inception. The title references the nursery rhyme This Is The House That Jack Built. Powered by singles “How You Like Me Now?” and “What Do You Want Me to Do?”, it has been featured on shows including Entourage, Stargate Universe, and The Late Show with David Letterman.
