Mayer Hawthorne will kick of a nationwide tour this week in support of his latest album, Where Does This Door Go. The soul-rock favorite will make his way to the East Coast later this year and stop in Massachusetts for a performance at Boston’s House of Blues on Saturday, March 1. Tickets for the show, which will also feature openers Quadron, are now on sale through Live Nation for $25.

Where Does This Door Go, Mayer Hawthorne’s third studio effort and follow-up to 2011’s How Do You Do, was released last July. He teamed up with several producers for the album, including Pharrell Williams, Greg Wells, Jack Splash, John Hill, and Oak (of Oak & Pop) during recording sessions in Los Angeles, Miami and New York. Along with lead single “Her Favorite Song”, Where Does This Door Go features “Crime” (featuring special guest Kendrick Lamar) and “Reach Out Richard” (video is streaming below).

“The only rule I had when I went in to make this album was that it had to be fun,” said Hawthorne in a press release.
“This record for me is really about a journey into the unknown,” he added. “As a musician, you’re only as good as your next record, and you never know what’s through that next door.”

Earlier this year, Mayer Hawthorne performed before a crowd of over 100,000 people at Michigan Stadium in his native Ann Arbor, Michigan as part of the ceremonies for the NHL Winter Classic game between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.
