Mastodon have revealed plans for a fall tour in support of their brand new album, Once More ‘Round the Sun. The Atlanta-bred metal favorites will make their way to Rhode Island for a performance at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence on Thursday, October 30. Tickets for the show, which will also feature openers Gojira and Kvelertak, will go on sale Friday at noon through eTix for $26 and $35.

Once More ‘Round the Sun, Mastodon’s sixth studio album and follow-up to 2011’s The Hunter, debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 and atop Billboard’s Rock albums chart, after its release last month. Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters), it features lead single “High Road” (streaming below).

“Quite literally, Once More ‘Round the Sun means a year-in-the-life,” explained drummer Braan Dailor in a press release. “Lyrically, we were discussing things that happened to us recently, whereas in the past we looked further back for inspiration. It’s about 365 days in this band. It was a tough and strange journey. We happened to be in the middle of completing a full rotation musically as everything else was going on.”

With the release of Once More ‘Round the Sun, Mastodon also made news by accepting payments in the form of bitcoins for the new release, becoming the first major label band to do so.

Next month, Mastodon will release a remixed and remastered edition of their 2002 debut album Remission. Set for release on on August 5, the CD package will also include more than 24 pages of previously unreleased artwork from artist Paul Romano that was originally created for the album.
