Mary Chapin Carpenter makes plans for Massachusetts

, Staff

Mary Chapin Carpenter has revealed plans to hit Massachusetts next month as part of her ongoing summer tour. She and her five-piece band will play Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on Thursday, August 18. Tickets for the show are on sale now through Ticketmaster for $35 and $45.

Following the Boston gig, she’ll travel south to New Bedford for a performance at the Zeiterion Theatre on Friday, August 19. Tickets for the show can be purchased through the venue’s box office and website for $35 and $45.

Carpenter continues to tour in support of her latest album, 2010’s Age of Miracles, which was nominated for Best Contemporary Folk Album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards last February. Carpenter’s battle with pulmonary embolism over the past few years heavily influenced the songs she wrote on the album. On the tour, Carpenter will be joined by her five-piece band: keyboardists Jon Carroll, guitarists John Jennings and Jim Henry, bassist Don Dixon and drummer Vince Santoro.

Other New England dates include the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Maine on Wednesday and Thursday, July 20 and 21 and the Strand Theatre in Rockland, Maine on Friday, July 22.
