LSMS heats up with more shows

Summer is just around the corner and with it concert season. The schedule for the Lowell Summer Music Series continues to take shape as organizers have revealed another set of shows that will take place at Boarding House Park this summer. Dennis DeYoung of Styx, Lyle Lovett, Livingston Taylor and Collie Buddz will all make their way to Massachusetts for shows in in downtown Lowell later this year. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through the official Lowell Summer Music Series website.

DeYoung, a founding member of classic rockers Styx, will perform in Lowell on Friday, July 20. Fans can expect the singer to deliver plenty of Styx classics including “Lady”, “Come Sail Away” and “Mr. Roboto”. DeYoung’s last solo studio effort was 2009’s One Hundred Years from Now. Tickets for the show are¬†available for $34 in advance or $40 on the day of.

Lovett, who performed at Boarding House Park in 2010, will return for another appearance at the Lowell Summer Music Series on Friday, August 10. The four-time Grammy Award winner will be touring in support of his brand new album, Release Me. Released in February, the album debuted at #9 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Tickets for the show are available for $46 in advance or $55 on the day of.

Taylor will also return for a repeat performance at the Lowell Summer Music Series on Friday, August 17. The Berklee College of Music professor will be joined by two of his former classmates in Liz Longley and Ken Yates. Taylor’s last offering of new material was 2009’s Last Alaska Moon. Tickets for the show are available for $26 in advance or $35 on the day of.

Buddz will hit Massachusetts for a show in downtown Lowell on Saturday, September 1. The Bermudian reggae artist will be touring in support of his latest studio release, 2011’s Playback EP. New Kingston will open the show. Tickets for the show are available for $25 in advance or $30 on the day of.

Previously announced shows include Ziggy Marley (June 22), America (July 13), John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers (July 14), Pat Metheny Unity Band (August 3), George Thorogood & The Destroyers (August 4), k.d. lang and The Siss Boom Bang (August 18), Gaelic Storm (August 24) and The Machine (September 7).

More shows will be added to the 2012 Lowell Summer Music Series soon.

Boarding House Park is a general admission venue and children age 12 and under are admitted free.
