Lowell Summer Music Series continues to add shows

The lineup for this year’s edition of the Lowell Summer Music Series continues to take shape as organizers recently announced that Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, moe., Toad the Wet Sprocket and Rickie Lee Jones will all headline concerts at Boarding House Park in 2011. Tickets for all of the shows are now on sale through the concert series’ official website.

Bela Fleck and The Flecktones will return to the Lowell Summer Music Series for a show on Friday, July 8. Led by Grammy Award-winning banjo virtuoso Bela Fleck, The Flecktones are gearing up for the release of their forthcoming album, Rocket Science. Scheduled for release on May 17, the album will be their first since 1991’s with the band’s classic lineup of pianist/harmonica player, bassist Victor Wooten, percussionist/drummer Roy “Futureman” Wooten and Fleck. Tickets for the show are $33 in advance or $40 on the day of the concert.

moe. will rock Boarding House Park on Friday, July 22. The jam band favorites, who recently wrapped up their snoe.down festival in Vermont this past weekend, released a greatest hits compilation, Smash Hits Volume 1, last year. The Buffalo-based band’s last offering of all new material was 2008’s Sticks and Stones. Tickets for the show are $33 in advance or $40 on the day of the concert.

Toad the Wet Sproket will hit Lowell on Saturday, August 6. The 90’s pop-rock favorites, best known for their smash hits “All I Want” and “Walk on the Ocean”, are working on material for their first new studio album since their 1997’s Coil. Tickets for the show are $31 in advance or $35 on the day of the concert.

Rickie Lee Jones will swing through Massachusetts for a show in Lowell on Friday, August 12. Over the past 30+ years, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter from California has released fifteen original albums plus a three-disc retrospective collection, Duchess of Coolsville: An Anthology. Tickets for the show are $28 in advance or $35 on the day of the concert.

As previously reported, Chris Isaak (June 18), the Indigo Girls (June 23 and 24), Jonny Lang (July 23), the Punch Brothers (August 5), Red Horse (August 13), Mavis Staples (August 19), Great Big Sea (August 26), Richard Thompson (September 2) and Matisyahu (September 3) will all perform at the Lowell Summer Music Series this year.
