Linkin Park to play the TD Garden

Linkin Park have revealed plans for a winter tour that will bring them to Massachusetts in February. The band will play Boston’s TD Garden on Tuesday, February 1. Tickets for the show go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $45 and $69.50. Pendulum and Does It Offend You, Yeah? will open the show.

The California rockers are returning to the road for the first time since 2008 to promote their recently released album, A Thousand Suns, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The album, the band’s fourth studio effort, was co-produced by vocalist Mike Shinoda and Rick Rubin. A Thousand Suns‘ two singles, “The Catalyst” and “Waiting For The End”, are now streaming on the band’s MySpace.

On the road, Linkin Park is promising a set that will combine some of the band’s biggest hits with material from the new album, which has been described as a psychedelic journey that explores the conflict between technology and humanity. “The new songs work really well alongside the older stuff,” lead vocalist Chester Bennington said in a press release. “Plus, there’s a strong, powerful message to A Thousand Suns, and we’ve transferred that into the show. Our aim was that we’re not just putting on a live performance, but something that’s visually spectacular as well.”

As a special “thank you” to concert goers, included as a bonus with the purchase of every ticket, fans will be able to download a live recording of the show they attended by texting a code from their mobile phones that will be displayed at the venue. Additionally, one dollar for each ticket purchased will go to Music For Relief, a charity founded by Linkin Park to provide relief to victims of natural disasters and to bring awareness to solutions to the global warming challenge.

Linkin Park, who was just named the “Best Live Act” at the 2010 MTV European Music Awards, will also perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, February 11. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation for $72.50 and $52.50.
