Organizers for the Newport Jazz Festival have revealed the full lineup for this year’s event, which will mark the legendary festival’s 60th anniversary. Scheduled for August 1 to 3, the festival will now include a third day at Fort Adams State Park along with a special concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Downtown Newport. Wynton Marsalis, Bobby McFerrin, Trombone Shorty, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Robert Glasper and Dr. John are among the highlights.

Other notable acts set to perform at the festival include Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Gary Burton, Gregory Porter, Jon Batiste, Dave Holland, John Zorn, Miguel Zenon, The Cookers and Snarky Puppy. The complete lineup for each day is available below.

This year’s festival will begin on August 1 with a special day dedicated to emerging artists at Fort Adams State Park. With the aim to promote the future of jazz, the festival will host some of the genre’s brightest up-and-coming performers. The additional day has been funded in part by a $40,000 grant from the Rhode Island Foundation.

“We are thrilled to open the Festival on Friday with an entire day of musicians who have emerged on the scene with distinctive stories to tell through their music,” explained George Wein, who has produced the Newport Jazz Festival since its beginning in 1954. “We’re not just selling these artists, we might be selling the future of jazz. In fact, the only reason for me to be in the festival business at this point in my life is because these musicians and others must be heard,” added Wein, now 88.

Later that night, the festival will move downtown for a special concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino featuring Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and Dee Dee Bridgewater’s “To Billie with Love” (a salute to Billie Holiday). The festival will return to Fort Adams State Park on Saturday and Sunday for over eight hours of music each day. The complete lineup for each day is available below.

In addition, the Newport Jazz Festival will present a symposium at Fort Adams State Park. Curated by New York Times critic Nate Chinen, the symposium will discuss how jazz relates to popular culture in today’s society, compared to when the festival began in 1954. It will feature internationally-known jazz aficionados and historians, including Henry Louis Gates.

Tickets for the Newport Jazz Festival are now on sale through the festival’s website. Tickets for the daytime event at Fort Adams on Friday are $40 for adults. Single-day General Admission tickets for Saturday and Sunday events at Fort Adams will be $74 per day beginning February 1, but are $55 through the end of the month. Single-day reserved seating tickets are also also available for $95 and $125. Two-day passes are $135 but $110 through the end of the month. A limited number of three-day passes (for Friday to Sunday events at Fort Adams) are now available now for $155. Tickets for the concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Friday range in price from $40 to $100.

In related news, the Newport Jazz Festival will launch a special 60th anniversary tour next month. The tour will feature a special ensemble selected by Wein: clarinetist/saxophonist Anat Cohen, vocalist/pianist Karrin Allyson, bassists Larry Grenadier and Ben Allison, pianist Peter Martin, guitarist Mark Whitfield, trumpeter Randy Brecker and drummer Clarence Penn. The tour will stop in Boston for a concert at the Berklee Performance Center on Thursday, February 13.
