Lil Wayne plots Massachusetts show in July

Lil Wayne will return to the road this summer for the second leg of his “I’m Still Music” tour. The rap superstar will hit Massachusetts for a show at the Comcast Center in Mansfield on Sunday, July 17. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $22.25 to $125, will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. Lil Wayne will be joined by an impressive set of opening acts including Rick Ross, Keri Hilson, Far East Movement and Lloyd.

The New Orleans-bred rapper is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of his next album, Tha Carter IV. The album, his ninth studio effort and follow-up to 2008’s Tha Carter III, is scheduled to hit stores on August 29. So far, Lil Wayne has already released three singles from the new album: “6 Foot 7 Foot” (where he rhymes over a sample of Harry Belafonte‚Äôs “Banana Boat Song (Day-O)”), “John” (which features Rick Ross) and “How to Love”.

In February of 2010, Lil Wayne released his seventh studio album Rebirth, which focused primarily on rock tracks. The next month, he began serving an 8-month prison sentence in New York after being convicted of criminal possession of a weapon stemming from an incident in July 2007. While in jail he released another album I Am Not a Human Being last September, which featured special guests including Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Twist.

Earlier this year, Lil Wayne performed at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on St. Patrick’s Day.
