Kevin Costner will hit the road this spring for a tour with with his band Modern West. The country rockers will swing through New England next month, visiting Rhode Island for a show at the Park Theatre in Cranston on Saturday, April 4. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $35 to $55, are now on sale through the venue’s box office and website.

Fans will likely get a chance to hear material from the band’s latest studio effort, 2011’s From Where I Stand. Released last September through Edel Records, the band’s third studio effort features singles “Indian Summer” and “Lights to Change”. It follows 2010’s Turn It On and their 2008 debut album Untold Truths. The band recently revealed in a live online chat with fans that they had already started recording their next album.

“I always thought that music could build a stronger, more personal moment with people,” said Costner in a press release. “It could create an opportunity for genuine exchange much greater than a movie, TV interview, or magazine. It would be real, full of mistakes and without apology. But most of all, there would be a chance to have some fun.”

The Academy Award-winning actor formed Modern West in 2005 after encouragement from his wife Christine. The band features songwriter John Coinman, bassist Blair Forward, drummer Larry Cobb, guitarist Park Chisolm, guitarist Teddy Morgan. Bobby Yang, Roddy Chong and Luke Bulla rotate on fiddle performances for the upcoming tour.

Costner will produce and star in the upcoming miniseries “Hatfields & McCoys”, which will premiere Memorial Day weekend on the History Channel. He and Modern West also handled the film’s music production. “The band wrote all the music for behind the scenes and the documentary,” he said in a recent interview with Billboard. “Out of that, we’re putting together a concept record which deals with that era, and it’s pretty cool. We’ll call it ‘Famous For Killing Each Other,’ and it will come out a couple of weeks before the miniseries comes out.”

Following their show in Rhode Island, Kevin Costner & Modern West will perform a pair of shows in Connecticut. On April 10, they’ll play the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield. The following night, the band will perform at the Infinity Music Hall & Bistro in Norfolk.
