Kenny Chesney has revealed plans to return to the road in 2012 for a massive summer tour that will include 19 stadium shows. The country superstar will team up with Tim McGraw for the “Brothers of the Sun” tour, which will hit Gillette Stadium in Foxboro next August. The show, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 25, will serve as the 9th annual New England Country Music Festival.

“Brothers of the Sun” will mark the first time in ten years that Chesney and McGraw have hit the road together. The tour will also feature special guests Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and Jake Owen. Chesney has sold out Gillette Stadium each year from 2005 to 2009, and then again for two nights in 2011. Tickets for next year’s show, which range in price from $44.50 to $99.50, will go on sale Saturday, December 3 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

“Tim and I have been great friends since we first toured together, and I can’t wait to get back on the road with him,” Chesney said in a press release. “He’s one of my closest friends in music and in life, and I know this tour is going to be something special.”

“Our friendship was forged on the road, so it’s going to be a blast heading out with Kenny again,” added McGraw. “We’ll be having as much fun on stage as the fans will be having in the audience.”

Chesney’s most recent release was 2010’s Hemingway’s Whiskey. The album, his fourteenth studio effort, features singles “The Boys of Fall”, “Somewhere with You”, “Live a Little” and “You and Tequila”, the latter of which features guest vocals from Potter.

McGraw’s last release was 2009’s Southern Voice. A new album, called Emotional Traffic, is reportedly complete but has yet to be released due to an ongoing dispute with his record label.

The tour is sure to be a big hit and the box office as Chesney was the second largest ticket seller of the last decade and the only artist in any genre to sell more than one million tickets for eight consecutive summers, while McGaw was named by Billboard as country music’s #1 touring act of 2010.
