Kendrick Lamar and Steve Aoki to play Lowell

Kendrick Lamar and Steve Aoki will join forces for a performance on the campus of the University of Massachusetts – Lowell next month. The rising rap star and electro house favorite will perform at the Tsongas Center on Sunday, April 21. Tickets for the show are available to the general public through the venue’s box office and website for $37. Discounted students tickets are available with a valid student ID for $22.

Lamar is touring in support of his new album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The Compton-bred rapper’s follow-up to his 2011 debut Section.80 debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 after its release in October. It was recorded mostly at several studios in California with a team of producers led by Dr. Dre and Anthony “TOPDAWG” Tiffith and including Just Blaze, Pharrell Williams, Hit-Boy, Scoop DeVille and T-Minus, among others. Good Kid, M.A.A.D City features hit singles “Swimming Pools (Drank)” and “Poetic Justice” (featuring Drake).

Aoki continues to promote his first full-length album, Wonderland. Released in January of 2012, the album featured several guest collaborators including Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Lil Jon, LMFAO, Kid Cudi and Travis Barker of Blink-182. In December, Aoki released a new 3-track EP It’s the End of the World As We Know It.
