Josh Ritter, Trombone Shorty to lead Green River Festival

The Green River Festival will return to Greenfield this summer for two great days of music. Now in its 28th year, the Western Massachusetts festival will take place on the grounds of Greenfield Community College on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. Headlining the two-day festival will be Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band.

Puss n’ Boots (Featuring Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson & Catherine Popper), Trampled By Turtles, Lucius, The Lone Bellow, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Dave & Phil Alvin & The Guilty Ones and Hurray For The Riff Raff are also scheduled to perform at the Green River Festival. Among the many New England-bred bands set to perform are the Debo Band, Heather Maloney & Darlingside, Barnstar!, The Deadly Gentlemen and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper.

In total, over 30 bands will perform across three stages at the festival. The complete lineup for each day is available below.

Two-day passes for the Green River Festival are available through the festival’s website for $74.99. Single day tickets for Saturday can alo be purchased in advance for $49.99, while tickets for Sunday are available for $34.99. Children aged 10 and under will be admitted for free. On-site parking can also be purchased in advance for $10 per a day. The music will run from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Along with all the music, the Green River features a range of food and beverage vendors, an expanded crafts/artisans village, a dance tent, a wide array of kids activities and hot air balloon launches (weather permitting). The Festival began in 1986 as a balloon festival. Presented by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, has gained increasing popularity each year as more and more musical entertainment was incorporated. It’s the only music festival in the country that features hot air balloons. Attendees can purchase balloon rides in advance for $225 before June 20 and $250 after, each ride tickets includes a single-day festival ticket.
