Johnny Marr maps solo tour

Johnny Marr will embark on a stateside tour next month in support of new new album, The Messenger. The Smiths guitarist will conclude the three-week trek in Boston with a show at the Paradise Rock Club on Saturday, May 4. Tickets for the 18+ show are available through Ticketmaster for $25.

The Messenger, Marr’s debut solo album was released last month. The 12-song set was written and produced by Marr himself. Based in Portland, Oregon since 2005, he returned to the U.K. in early 2012 to commence work on the album. Recorded in Manchester and Berlin, it was mastered at Abbey Road by Frank Artwright who recently collaborated with Marr on the re-mastering work for The Smiths’ box set Complete.

Best known for his work as the creative force alongside Morrissey behind The Smiths, Marr has spent the last two decades collaborating with a diverse array of acclaimed bands. Most recently he spent time a member of The Cribs and Modest Mouse. He has also collaborated with the Talking Heads, Pet Shop Boys, The The, Electronic and more.
