John Mellencamp has announced plans for return to the road this summer. The classic rock favorite will make one stop in New England with a performance scheduled for the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Saturday, July 5. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $49.50.

Mellencamp is currently working on a new album with acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett. No official release date for the singer-songwriter’s 2010’s No Better Than This has been announced by its expected to arrive in stores in the fall with an extensive tour of the United States and Canada to follow in 2015.

“I’ve got a notebook with 85 new songs that I’ve written for my next record,” said Mellencamp in an interview with Rolling Stone in December. He went on to praise Burnett, who he worked with on his last two albums. “I never want to work with anyone else,” he said. “At least, I want to work with him as long as he wants to work with me. He’s a minimalist. He was able to strip down all my songs. My Nineties records were almost paint-by-numbers. He came in and said to me, ‘You don’t need this part. You don’t need that part. Take out these background vocals…'”
