Joe Satriani has revealed plans for a nationwide tour in support of his new album, Unstoppable Momentum. The guitar virtuoso will make his way to Massachusetts for a performance at the Oprheum Theatre in Boston on Friday, September 27. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $35 to $75, are now on sale through Ticketmaster.

Unstoppable Momentum, Satriani’s fourteenth studio and follow-up to 2010’s Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards, was released in February. Recorded in California with co-producer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica), Satriani was joined by Vinnie Colauita (Sting, Jeff Beck) on drums, Chris Chaney (Janes Addiction) on bass and on keyboards, Mike Keneally (Dethklok).

“The idea was to crank up the energy level of the sessions, and allow for more individual expression of the material from each player,” explained Satriani in a press release. “The chemistry with Mike, Chris and Vinnie was fantastic and we blazed through all of the tracks with everyone laying down amazing performances.”

He described Unstoppable Momentum‘s eleven tracks as as all “heading in different directions and touching on a variety of musical influences”.

For the upcoming tour, Satriani will be supported by veteran bandmate Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Steve Vai) on keyboards, along with an entirely new rhythm-section, featuring bassist Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Dweezil Zappa) and drummer Marco Minnemann (Adrian Belew, Steve Wilson).
