Fenway Park will hosts its first country concert in 2013 as Jason Aldean will headline the historic ballpark with help from Miranda Lambert. Aldean was in town Thursday morning to announce the show, which will take place on Saturday, July 13. Tickets for the concert will go on sale Friday, October 26 through eTix. Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett will open the show.

“To be able to say I played at a place like Fenway Park is going to be one of the highlights of my career,” Aldean declared at the announcement, the first of three stops on the day. While at Fenway, Aldean took time to pose for photos and sign the wall inside the Green Monster. He then left Boston for Chicago where he announced he would play Wrigley Field with Kelly Clarkson next July. The day concluded in Athens, Georgia with an announcement that he would perform at Sanford Stadium, home of the University of Georgia football team, next April with Luke Bryan. He also gave fans a preview of the show with a short performance as part of the team’s rally event.

Aldean will be touring in support of his brand new album, Night Train. The Georgia native’s fifth studio effort and follow-up to 2010’s My Kinda Party, was released on Tuesday. Produced by Michael Knox and featuring Aldean’s road band, the album’s lead single is “Take A Little Ride”. It also features a collaboration with Luke Bryan and Eric Church on “The Only Way I Know”. Night Train is expected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200.

Aldean was last in Massachusetts this past July for a sold out performance at Mansfield’s Comcast Center. Tickets for the show sold out in less than an hour. An avid baseball fan, Aldean welcomed members of the Red Sox pitching staff on stage at his 2011 concert in Mansfield.

Lambert continues to support her latest release, 2011’s Four The Record. The singer’s fourth studio effort and follow-up to 2009’s Revolution debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 after its release last November. Co-produced by Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke, the album has been powered by hit singles “Baggage Claim”, “Over You” and “Fastest Girl in Town”.

Fenway Park first began hosting summer concerts in 2002 with legendary classic rockers Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Last year, Springsteen returned for two nights and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters brought his acclaimed “The Wall” tour to the ballpark. Others to perform at Fenway Park include Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Aerosmith, The Police, Jimmy Buffett, Neil Diamond, New Kids On the Block and Backstreet Boys.
