Jars of Clay to play Showcase Live

Jars of Clay will take a break from recording to return to the road for a brief fall tour. The Illinois-bred/Tennessee-based rockers will hit Massachusetts for a show at Showcase Live in Foxboro on Thursday, October 11. Tickets for the show are available through the venue’s box office and website for $25. Sleeping At Last and Mariah McManus will open the show.

The band is currently recording their tenth full-length studio release and follow-up to 2010’s The Shelter in Portland, Oregon. The album, according to a blog post by Jars of Clay frontman Dan Haseltine will be more secular than the band’s previous efforts that have frequently charted on Christian radio. “Since the themes of the record are very far from evangelical Christianity, the church community will most likely not embrace this record,” he said. Haseltine later described the new songs and “honest expressions of what life around us looks like. The descriptions of love and pain, loneliness and hope are real to us.” For Haseltine’s full commentary on the band’s forthcoming album, go here.
