Iron Maiden to rock Mansfield with Alice Cooper

Iron Maiden have revealed plans for a special summer tour featuring guest opener Alice Cooper. The metal legends will bring their “Maiden England” world tour to Massachusetts for a performance at the Comcast Center in Mansfield on Tuesday, June 26. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $35 to $75, will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

The “Maiden England” world tour will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the ‚ÄúSeventh Son Of A Seventh Son” tour. It also marks the third chapter in the “History of Iron Maiden” touring chronology, a journey which began in 2004 with “The Early Days” DVD and subsequent Early Days tour in 2005. Part two followed in 2008 with the “Live After Death” DVD, the seminal 1984 concert recorded at Long Beach Arena during the “World Slavery” tour, and the band embarking on their “Somewhere Back In Time” world tour in 2008 and 2009.

“We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue,” explained lead singer Bruce Dickinson in a press release. “It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited – with many other surprises!”

The band intends to perform about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England, including some songs they have not played live in a very long time, plus other favorites from throughout their catalogue.

“We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually,” said Dickinson. “And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly!”

Iron Maiden’s last offering of all new material was 2010’s The Final Frontier.

Cooper will be touring in support of his latest album, Welcome 2 My Nightmare. Released last September, Cooper’s 26th studio effort serves as a follow-up to his hit 1975 album, Welcome to My Nightmare. Produced by Bob Ezrin (KISS, Pink Floyd), the album features an array of special guests including Vince Gill, Ke$ha, Rob Zombie, Kip Winger and Paterson Hood. Original Alice Cooper Band members Denis Dunaway, Michael Bruce and Neal Smith reunited on three tracks.

In an attempt to prevent ticket scalping, the tour will feature a paperless ticketing system for least the front sections of the venue. To enter the show, fans will go directly to the gate and present the credit card used to purchase the tickets and a valid ID to the ticket attendant. The attendant will scan the credit card to validate the order and present a seat locator slip for each ticket ordered. Since all the seats from the purchase are assigned to a single credit card, the purchaser’s entire party must be present to enter the venue. Paperless Tickets are non transferable.
