Huey Lewis & The News have revealed plans to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their classic album Sports with a special summer tour. The band will return to Massachusetts and perform the album in its entirety at the Cape Cod Melody Tent on Friday, August 30. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $55.25 and $75.25.

“We’ve always been very proud of the record and it’s going to be a blast to play it all live!,” declared Lewis in a press release.

Released in September of 1983, Sports sold almost 10 million copies thanks to four Top 10 hit singles: “Heart and Soul”, “I Want a New Drug”, “The Heart of Rock & Roll” and “If This Is It”. On May 14, the band will release an expanded commemorative edition that pairs each of the original album’s nine songs remastered with choice live versions on a second disc, many of which have never before been released. The special edition also includes an expanded booklet with photos and memorabilia from the band’s archive and new liner notes by music journalist and author Gary Graff.

Along with the show in Hyannis, the band has scheduled a concert for the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut on Thursday, August 29. Ticket information for the show has not yet been released.

Huey Lewis & The News are reportedly working on a new album too. The band released their first album in nearly a decade with 2010’s Soulsville, their ninth studio effort overall. Recorded at the historic Ardent Studios in Memphis, the album features 14 classic songs from the vault of Stax Records.
