Grouplove & Portugal. The Man to lead Honda Civic tour

The annual Honda Civic tour will return this summer with co-headliners Grouplove and Portugal. The Man. The pair of alt-rock favorites will hit Boston for a night at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on Sunday, September 14. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $29.50 to $45, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. Typhoon will open the show.

Grouplove continue to tour in support of 2013’s Spreading Rumours. The band’s second studio effort and follow-up to 2011’s Never Trust a Happy Song debuted at #21 on the Billboard 200 after its release last September. Produced by the band’s drummer Ryan Rabin, it features singles “Ways To Go” and “Shark Attack” (streaming below).

Alaska-bred rockers Portugal. The Man are on the road to promote their latest album, 2013’s Evil Friends. The band’s seventh studio release and follow-up to 2011’s In the Mountain in the Cloud, debuted at #28 on the Billboard 200 after its release last June. Recorded in Los Angeles with acclaimed producer and Grammy Award winner Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, The Black Keys), it features singles “Purple Yellow Red and Blue” and “Modern Jesus”. It also marks their first album with keyboardist Kyle O’Quin and drummer Kane Ritchotte, who replaced Ryan Neighbors and Jason Sechrist in 2012.

As is tradition for the Honda Civic tour, the headlining bands will once again design their very own custom Honda Civic. Grouplove and Portugal. The Man will collaborate on an original design, which fans will be able to see in person at each of the venues the tour stops at.
