Bringing together two of Massachusetts’ best rock bands of the past decade, Godsmack and Stain will hit the road together this spring for a co-headlining tour. As part of the aptly dubbed the “Mass Chaos” tour, the two bands will perform at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire on Wednesday, May 16. Tickets for the concert will go on sale today at noon through Ticketmaster for $39.50 and $49.50. Opening the show will be Pennsylvanian-based rockers Halestorm.

“Our fans are in for one hell of a rock show,” declared Godsmack frontman Sully Erna in a press release. “We’re very excited to get back out with our Massachusetts brothers again. It’s been a pinch too long, and all hell is about to break loose!”

“Going on tour with Godsmack was a no-brainer,” added Staind frontman Aaron Lewis.

Godsmack continues to tour in support of their most recent release, 2010’s The Oracle. The album, the band’s fifth studio effort and follow-up to 2006’s IV, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. It features singles “Cryin’ Like a Bitch”, “Love-Hate-Sex-Pain” and “Saints and Sinners”.

Staind will return to the road to support their self-titled seventh studio album. It debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 after its release in September, marking the band’s fifth consecutive top five album debut. Staind has been powered by singles “Not Again” and “Eyes Wide Open”. The new album also marks Staind’s last with original drummer Jon Wysocki, who departed from band following the recording process in May 2011. He has since been replaced by Sal Giancarelli.

The tour, which kicks off on April 13 in Augusta, Georgia, is scheduled to run through May 18 in Bangor, Maine. Godsmack and Staind are giving fans the chance to design a tour poster for The Mass Chaos Tour via Creative Allies. The winning designer will receive $500 and a prize pack.
