Fountains of Wayne to go electric and acoustic in Boston

Fountains of Wayne will Boston this summer with a pair of special intimate shows planned for the Brighton Music Hall. The band will deliver an electric set on Friday, August 12, followed by an acoustic set on Saturday, August 13. Tickets for both of shows will go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster for $20 each. Nicole Atkins will open both shows.

The power-pop favorites will be touring in support of their forthcoming album, Sky Full of Holes, which is scheduled for release on August 2. Recorded in the band’s hometown of New York City, Sky Full of Holes features 13 new songs written and produced by lead singer/guitarist Chris Collingwood and bassist Adam Schlesinger. The album was mixed by John Holbrook, who also worked on the band’s previous two efforts, 2007’s Traffic And Weather and 2003’s Welcome Interstate Managers. Fountains of Wayne is comprised of Collingwood, Schlesinger, guitarist Jody Porter and drummer Brian Young. Sky Full of Holes’s lead single “Richie and Ruben” is available for free below.

Prior to the Boston shows, Massachusetts residents can also catch Fountains of Wayne on when they hit Wellfleet’s Beachcomber on Thursday, August 11. Tickets are available through the venue’s website for $25.
