Foo Fighters add MMB & DKM to Fenway Park shows

As of Boston was not excited enough for Foo Fighters two-night stand at Fenway Park next summer, the rock favorites have added another incentive with the addition of two local staples. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones will now open the band’s first show on July 18, while Dropkick Murphys will perform the following night. As previously reported, tickets for each the shows will range in price from $49.50 to $75 and go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. through

Both bands, who previously co-headlined a pair of concerts at Fenway Park in the more intimate “bleacher theater” setup in 2011, took to Facebook to announce the news.

“The offer to return to the Fenway stage is both unexpected and humbling,” said The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. “We are looking forward to a killer night of music in the world’s best ballpark!

“We couldn’t be more excited that our friends Foo Fighters have asked us to open their July 19 show at Fenway Park,” said Dropkick Murphys. “They are one of our favorite bands!”

Foo Fighters said they were excited to add each of the bands and summarized the move by simply stating, “…It’s gonna get loud.”

As previously reported, Foo Fighters will be touring in support of their brand new album Sonic Highways. The band’s eighth studio effort and follow-up to 2011’s Wasting Light, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 after its release last month.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones will host the 17th edition of their Hometown Throwdown holiday concert series at Boston’s House of Blues later this month. The band will play three consecutive nights, beginning on Friday, December 26. In similar fashion, Dropkick Murphys will host their annual run of homecoming St. Patrick‚Äôs Day week concerts in March. The Boston-bred Irish-punk rockers will deliver five shows over four days at the House of Blues, beginning on Thursday, March 12.
