Fiona Apple announces summer tour

After returning to the road for a brief club tour in March, Fiona Apple has revealed plans for a more expansive summer outing in support of her forthcoming fourth album. The singer will hit Boston for a show at the Citi Wang Theatre on Saturday, June 30. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $49.50 to $89.50, will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Telecharge.

Apple will be touring in support of her forthcoming album, The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do (more simply known as The Idler Wheel…). Like Apple’s 1999 record, When the Pawn…, the new album’s title is a poem. Scheduled to hit stores on June 19, the album is her first since 2005’s Extraordinary Machine. “Every Single Night,” The Idler Wheel…‘s first single, will be available through iTunes beginning Tuesday, April 24. The album’s cover art will feature an illustration by Apple.

“Every Single Night” was one of three new songs Apple introduced on her recent sold-out spring tour, her first outing in five years. The tour included a stop at Boston’s Royale.

One week prior to the Boston show, Massachusetts fans can see Apple perform at Mountain Park in Hollyoke. Tickets for the June 23 show, which range in price from $35 to $55, will go on sale Friday, April 20 at 10 a.m. through NBOTickets.

Apple will also makes stops in Connecticut (MGM Grand Theatre at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket on June 22 and Ives Park in Danbury on June 29) and Maine (State Theatre in Portland on July 1).
