Fall Out Boy have announced plans to end their hiatus and return to the road for a spring tour. The Chicago-based rockers will bring their “Save Rock and Roll” tour to Boston’s House of Blues on Sunday, May 26. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation for $35 and $45.

Along with the tour, Fall Out Boy have revealed details for their forthcoming album, Save Rock and Roll. The band’s seventh studio album and first since 2008’s Folie à Deux will hit stores on May 6, the 10th anniversary of their debit album, Take This To Your Grave. Fans can get a taste of the new material with lead single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)”, which is now available through iTunes. The official video for the song is streaming below.

“When we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music,” the band said in a statement. “It’s why we started Fall Out Boy in the first place. This isn’t a reunion because we never broke up. We needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us. The future of Fall Out Boy starts now. Save Rock And Roll…”

Fall Out Boy is comprised of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley.

On his personal blog, Wentz explained the cause for the band’s hiatus. “I think we all needed a break,” he wrote. “We toured non stop for 7 years all over the world. There was no real plan with it. We needed to figure ourselves out in being creative and our personal lives. We never thought it would end up being as big of a deal as it was.”

He also explained the band’s decision to return now. “The music had to be right first, its all about the music,” Wentz declared. “There was no other part driving this. About 9 or 10 months ago, Patrick and I wrote a few songs – they didn’t feel right, so we kept our heads down and went about other projects. when we got together more recently we felt like we had written a few of the most compelling and heartfelt songs Fall Out Boy has ever written.”
