Erykah Badu has lined up dates for a spring tour that will bring her to Massachusetts. The Hip hop/R&B singer is slated for a stop at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre on Sunday, May 23 appearance in Boston. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $46 to $75, go sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

Badu will be touring her new album, New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), which was released at the end of March and debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200. Coming only two years after its predecessor, New America Part One (4th World War), the new album was produced by multiple big names including The Roots drummer Questlove and Grammy-winning songwriter/keyboardist James Poyser.

The music video of New America Part Two (Return of the Ankh)’s single “Window Seat” recently placed Badu in a controversial spotlight. The video showed her stripping nude in Dallas’s Dealey Plaza and feigning being shot in the head, near the site of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. During an interview on “The Wanda Sykes Show”, she argued that her actions have been misunderstood. “John F. Kennedy was a revolutionary; he was not afraid to butt heads with America, and I was not afraid to show America my butt-naked truth,” Badu said. Her reasoning did not save her from being charged with disorderly conduct from the Dallas Police Department.
