Eric Clapton plans stateside tour, Crossroads Festival

Eric Clapton has revealed plans for a stateside tour in 2013. The guitar legend will make one stop in New England with a show scheduled for the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, April 5. Tickets for the show, which will also feature openers The Wallflowers, will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $135 and $185.

The tour will end with Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, which will take place over two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13. The festival will feature a plethora of guitar greats from past, present and future. Among the impressive list of confirmed performers are BB King, Brad Paisley, Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr., Jeff Beck, Jimmie Vaughan,John Mayer, Keith Urban, Robert Cray, Robert Randolph, Taj Mahal and Vince Gill. This will be the fourth edition of the Crossroads Guitar Festival, which has previously taken place in Dallas (2004) and Chicago (2007, 2010).

“The Crossroads Festival is the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform on one stage,” said Clapton in a press release. “The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect.”

Tickets for each night of the Crossroads Guitar Festival will go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster and range in price from $75 to $500. All profits from the Festival will benefit The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Clapton for chemically dependent persons.

Clapton’s backing band for the upcoming stateside tour will consist of long-time touring partners: Doyle Bramhall II (guitar), Steve Jordan (drums), Chris Stainton (piano and keyboards), and Willie Weeks (bass), along with newcomers Paul Carrack (organ and keyboards) and Greg Leisz (pedal steel guitar). Michelle John and Sharon White will join the touring band again as backing vocalists.
