Elbow plot stateside tour

Elbow have revealed plans for a stateside tour in support of their brand new album Build a Rocket, Boys!. The English rockers will cross the pond and visit Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on Monday, September 26. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at noon through Ticketmaster for $30.

Build a Rocket, Boys!, Elbow’s fifth studio effort, was released on March 7. It debuted at #2 on the UK album charts. In writing the album, the band faced the dilemma of staying true to their traditional fanbase while maintaining the same appeal they gained with their previous album, 2008’s The Seldom Seen Kid, which won the prestigious Mercury Award.

“We can’t come back with 10 stadium fillers that are going to disappoint everyone who’s been following us for years,” frontman Guy Garvey told The Guardian earlier this year. “On the other hand, it would be churlish to come back with something that’s purely art for art’s sake, because that’s not what we do either. So we decided to do whatever we felt was right, as we always have. Ultimately, it’s a different record; it’s something we’re proud of.”
