Edwin McCain will kick of the new year by returning to the road. The veteran singer-songwriter will make his way to Massachusetts for a show at the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury on Friday, January 6. Tickets for the show, which will see McCain perform acoustic set with two bandmates, are now on sale through the venue’s box office and website for $20. Erick Baker will open the show.

McCain is touring in support of his new album, Mercy Bound. For his tenth album, the South Carolina native worked with fellow singer-songwriter Maia Sharp (who also produced the album). Mercy Bound also features additional artistic input from songwriters Angie Aparo, Mark Addison, Anders Osborne and the guitar talents of Warren Haynes.

“As we were making this album, we wrote together exclusively on a bunch of the tracks, and then she threw me a few songs she wrote herself,” explained McCain in a press release. “A lot of the time, when you go from a female to a male voice, it doesn’t really work, but for me, it was almost like she was watching me on closed circuit TV. Sometimes I think your ego tricks you into thinking, ‘I have to write everything,’ but, no, you don’t have to write everything, you just have to love it.”

McCain’s backing band is comprised of Larry Chaney (lead guitar), Craig Shields (sax, keys), Markeya “Tez” Sherard (drums) and Jason Pomar (bass).
