Dropkick Murphys reveal plans for 2015 St. Patrick’s Day shows

Dropkick Murphys have revealed plans for their annual run of homecoming St. Patrick’s Day week concerts. The Boston-bred Irish-punk rockers will deliver five shows over four days at the House of Blues before crossing the pond for a pair of shows in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day.The band will open their run of Boston shows at the House of Blues on Thursday, March 12 and continue with consecutive performances through Sunday, March 15. Dropkick Murphys will deliver two shows, one matinee and one evening performance, on Saturday, March 14. Tickets for each of the shows will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation for $32.50 and $60. The Mahones and Blood or Whiskey will open each of the shows.

Following the series of homecoming shows, Dropkick Murphys will travel to Dublin for a pair of performances at the historic Vicar Street venue on March 17. The concerts will mark the first time that the band will play Ireland on St Patrick’s Day. In the coming months, the band will announce ticket packages for fans who want to travel to the Ireland shows.

In a recent interview with Oregon’s The Source Weekly, drummer Matt Kelly confirmed the band is working on new album. “We’re currently getting some new material together for an album we’ll be recording next Spring,” he said. “I’m psyched to start working on new stuff, it’s always a blast.”Dropkick Murphys’ most recent studio album, Signed and Sealed in Blood, was released in January of 2013. The band’s eighth studio effort and second with producer Ted Hutt (Gaslight Anthem, Old Crow Medicine Show) followed 2011’s Going Out In Style. Recorded at Q Division studios and mixed by Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes), it featured singles “Rose Tattoo”, “The Boys Are Back” and “Out Of Our Heads”.

On Sunday, members of Dropkick Murphys performed at a ceremony in Whitman for Maj. Michael Donahue, who was killed in Afghanistan last month. The band closed out the ceremony as a surprise to the family. For more on the event, go here.
