Dropkick Murphys have annoucned the title of their highly anticipated forthcoming album, Signed and Sealed in Blood. The band’s eighth studio effort and follow-up to 2011’s Going Out in Style will hit stores in January 2013.

Signed and Sealed in Blood was recorded at Q Division studios in Somerville. The album is their second with producer Ted Hutt (The Gaslight Anthem, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones). It was mixed by Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes).

“We had such a great time writing our last album, Going Out In Style, we were excited to get back into the studio right away,” explained bassist and co-lead singer Ken Casey in a press release. “Where Going Out in Style was a concept album-kind of intricate and difficult-this one is catchy, fun, and as sing-along as can be.”

The album’s title is a reference to a lyric in the new song “Rose Tattoo,” which the band road-tested on its European festival tour this summer.  The band, through their website, are asking their most loyal fans who feel equally inspired by the lyrics of the song to get a tattoo with the new Dropkick Murphys logo from the Signed and Sealed in Blood album cover, including the band’s name and/or the album title or song lyrics. Fans are asked to take photos and videos of the tattoo and submit it through the band’s website before September 19. The photos and videos will be used in the CD and vinyl artwork, as well as in the upcoming “Rose Tattoo” music video that will be released later this fall. For more information, go here.

Tickets are available through Live Nation and range in price from$28.50 to $40.50. The Devil Makes Three and The Turbo A.C.’s will open the show.
