DKM announce Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day concert
Currently touring across Europe, Dropkick Murphys have revealed plans for a special homecoming show. The Boston-bred Irish punk rockers will perform at the Bank of America Pavilion on Friday, September 21 as part of their “Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day” tour. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $23.50 to $35.50, will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.
Earlier this year, Dropkick Murphys released the Going Out In Style: Fenway Park Bonus Edition, an expanded version of their 2011 release. The Fenway Park Bonus Edition includes the Live From Fenway bonus disc, recorded on September 8 and 9 in front of 20,000 fans at the band’s sold out headlining shows at the legendary ballpark. Also included in the package is a download of the filmed concert at Fenway Park as well as the complete story of Cornelius Larkin by the band’s friend and best-selling author Michael Patrick MacDonald (All Souls, Easter Rising). The Cornelius Larkin story is an expansion of MacDonald’s Cornelius Larkin obituary that appears in the Going Out In Style liner notes. Fans can also read the story online through the band’s website.
Additional September tour dates are expected to be added soon. $1 from each ticket sold will benefit the band’s own charitable foundation The Claddagh Fund. The foundation helps various organizations that supports the needs of children, veterans, and those struggling with substance abuse.
Last month, the band joined the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall for a special performance of “Tesse” and “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” as part of the Pop’s special “Red Sox Night” to celebrate Fenway Park’s 100th anniversary.
