Dream Theater have revealed plans for a fall tour in support of their forthcoming album, A Dramatic Turn of Events. The progressive rock veterans, who formed in 1985 while they attended Berklee College of Music, will return to Boston for a show at the Orpheum Theatre on Monday, October 10. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $33 and $43. Labelmates Trivium will open the show.

A Dramatic Turn of Events
, the band’s eleventh studio effort, is scheduled to hit stores on September 13. The album marks the recorded debut of new drummer Mike Mangini, who replaced founding member Mike Portnoy after his departure last September. In addition to the standard version, the band will release the album in variety of formats including a special edition CD/DVD set with “The Spirit Carries On”, a 60-minute movie documenting Dream Theater’s much-discussed drummer auditions.

“We are all very pumped about the release of A Dramatic Turn of Events this September as well as the world tour we’ll embark upon in support of the album,” said guitarist John Petrucci in a press release. “Our first leg will bring us throughout North America where we’ll showcase songs from the new album along with tons of fan favorites and a brand new tour production unlike any other that we’ve done before. We’re equally excited to have our friends in Trivium join us as well. It’s sure to be an incredible tour. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our friends on the road this fall!”

Dream Theater’s last studio release was 2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings.
