Drake and Lil Wayne join forces for summer tour

Two heavyweights of rap will join forces this summer when Drake and Lil Wayne team up for a summer tour. The “Drake Vs. Lil Wayne” summer tour will stop in Massachusetts for a night at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield on Monday, August 25. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $35 to $149.50, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

Drake is on the road to promote his new album, Nothing Was the Same. Released in September, the Toronto native’s third studio effort and follow-up to 2011’s Take Care debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and went on to earn a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album. Jay-Z provides guest vocals on “”Pound Cake” / “Paris Morton Music 2”, while Jhene Aiko, Majid Jordan, Detail, Big Sean and 2 Chainz also make guest spots on the album. Nothing Was the Same features hit singles “Started from the Bottom”, “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “All Me”.

Lil Wayne is reportedly gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated new album, Tha Carter V. No official release date has been announced. Among the many rumored guest collaborators on the forthcoming album are Drake, Kanye West, Nas, The Weeknd, Meek Mill, and J. Cole. Adding to the buzz surrounding the album is release is that Wayne has said it will be his final solo album.

“I plan on it being my final solo album,” Wayne told MTV earlier this year. “Whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, a Like Father, Like Son album and something like that and maybe something out the blue, but the way I’m working on this album, it’s to me, the way it seems like now,it seems likeĀ  it’ll be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else.”

Last year, Wayne released his tenth album I Am Not a Human Being II. It marked his first studio release since 2011’s Tha Carter IV and served as the sequel to 2010′s I Am Not a Human Being. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and featured singles “My Homies Still”, “No Worries”, “Love Me” and “Rich As Fuck”.

Along with the show in Massachusetts, Drake and Lil Wayne will perform at the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, Connetciut on Wednesday, August 13.
