Donavon Frankenreiter will return to the road this summer in support of his new album, Start Livin’. The veteran singer-songwriter and surfer will make multiple stops in Massachusetts, including the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury on Saturday, July 14. Tickets for the show, which will also feature opener Rayland Baxter, are on sale through the venue’s box office and website for $26. Each ticket buyer will receive a free copy of Start Livin’ at the show.

Frankenreiter’s other Massachusetts stops will take place at The Chicken Box in Nantucket on Tuesday, July 10 and the Beachcomber in Wellfleet on Monday, July 16.

Start Livin’, Frankenreiter’s fifth full-length studio album and follow-up to 2010’s Glow, was released last month. The Hawaii-based singer recorded the album over just seven days in Southern California with his longtime bassist Matt Grundy. The recording process featured the singer exploring different directions and using unique instruments.

“This album’s completely unlike anything I’ve ever done before, in that we skipped the basics and went for a whole lot of different instruments,” explained Frankenreiter in a press release. “We never brought in a drum set-instead there’s handclapping for percussion, or the two of us banging on pots and pans. We were using everything from bells to singing bowls to Zippo lighters; at one point we put some beans and salts in a can and shook it around.”

“To me the most beautiful thing about this record is it really reflects who I am today,” said Frankenreiter. “Start Livin’ means stop worrying about where you’ve been, where you’re going-just start embracing what you have around you. Start loving what you have right now.”
